PDT-1 PD Tomography Unit
For area scanning, Matelect has designed a sophisticated X-Y PD scanning system. The PDT-1 can be used with either AC or DC instrumentation to map the PD activity on a specimen's surface, generating a false-colour ‘image’ of the surface voltages rather than a single integrated PD signal.
This enables multiple defect sites to be imaged and helps pinpoint defects with enhanced sensitivity, since the equipment responds to differences in PD rather than just the absolute value. Area scanning with the PDT-1 can be used to map welds and cracking, porosity, creep damage, and subsurface defects in bulk specimens.
